The Jump Jockey Championship title is awarded to the jockey with the most wins over the national hunt racing season – which this year runs from Saturday 4th May 2024 to Saturday 26th April 2025. The previous years winner was Harry Cobden but at time of writing Sean Bowen is clear favourite with a significant wins lead over Harry Skelton in second, Sam Twiston-Davies in second and Cobden in third.
There’s also a champion jockey title over the flat, as well as apprentice champions for younger jockeys (aged 16 – 25). Many of the most well known jockeys and legends of the sport have won the title numerous titles, and that’s certainly true of the Jump Jockey Championship. Previous multiple title winners of this national hunt award include Peter Scudamore, Brian Hughes and AP McCoy who was chahmpion jockey a staggering 20 years in a row (this whole professional career). The 2022/23 title went to Brian Hughes.
